More about the play

easter-play3

Our play begins the narrative at Jerusalem and concludes with the Resurrection appearance to the disciples. Our play then is of the genre of Passion plays although we choose to call it an Easter play. We draw though, from that deep tradition, continuing the tradition of experiential spiritual involvement, with each scene performed by members of the congregation, supported and augmented by other church communities. Many members take annual leave from work to participate. All involved have found it an important part of their own spiritual and Christian journey.

The whole Church complex is used. Beginning outside – a Market bazaar in Jerusalem – the audience are lead to each scene by a narrator. Performances are every half hour, for an hour in duration.

‘Easter Sights & Sounds’ is suitable for all ages; families, school and youth groups are welcome. It is advertised throughout the Adelaide community. Each season between 600–700+ people attend. In 2014 we hosted over 1000 school students.

You are invited to engage in this spiritual practice, either as an actor, member of the crowd, crew member, building the set or to come and see the play.
